Taxonomic remark Authority given in Nomen. Zool. as Lacepède, 1802. Unjustifiably emended to Macropus (not of Shaw 1790, Latrielle 1802 or Thunberg 1805) by Günther 1861(372) 381. The ICZN in Opinion 2058 changed the spelling of the subfamily to Macropodusinae to remove homonymy in family-group names in mammals. (Eschmeyer). [details]
