Taxonomic remark Objectively invalid; preoccupied by Asellus G. St. Hilaire 1762 in Crustacea (not Plumier in Lacepède 1800 in fishes, not available). Also predates Asellus Minding 1832 (Gadidae) and Asellus Valenciennes 1838 (Moridae). Name apparently not in current literature and can be considered a nomen oblitum. (refer Eschmeyer). [details]
