Nomenclatural status nomen rejiciendum [details]
Taxonomic remark nom. rej. vs. Plumaria Schmitz 1896 (nom. cons.) (Index Nominum Genericorum). From Papenfuss, 1950: Technically, Ptilota Ag. is invalid; and the species currently assigned to it should be referred to Plumaria Stackh., and a new generic name should be created for those species that are now placed in Plumaria. However, such action would probably aggravate the confusion instead of remedying it. Consequently, it seems best to retain Ptilota and to reject Plumaria Stackhouse in favor of Plumaria Schmitz.
