Taxonomic remark From Gaffney et al., 2006: ... the genus and its two species are undiagnosable. Unfortunately, Antunes and Broin (1988), Broin (1988), Lapparent de Broin and Werner (1998), and Lapparent de Broin (2000a) chose to recognize ‘‘Sokotochelys’’ as a bothremydid and include it in comparisons with other bothremydids, based apparently on imaginative interpretations of the figures in Halstead (1979a) and Walker (1979). There is no objective basis for including these taxa in the Bothremydidae. [details]
