Taxonomic remark Assigned to Scyphozoa or Staurozoa in different sources, however Van Iten et al., 2023 state: [concerning their material] "if these structures are indeed relic conulariid soft parts ... they could be useful in testing alternative hypotheses of the phylogenetic position of conulariids within Medusozoa, namely whether they are the sister group of staurozoans (Marques and Collins, 2004) or the sister group of coronate scyphozoans (Van Iten et al., 2006, 2014, 2016) ... [however] we are unable to address the problem of which group of septate medusozoans (cubozoans, scyphozoans, or staurozoans) was most closely related to conulariids." [details]
