Taxonomic remark Originally described as a fossil Rhyniophyte from the Lower Silurian but with surprisingly advanced features for that age. Re-interpreted by Edwards et al., 2007, as rooting systems of unknown much younger plants, possibly of Permian age, which had infiltrated the Silurian rocks. [details]
