Taxonomic remark Authority given in Nomen. Zool. as Smitt, 1899. See Butigobius Whitley 1930. (Nomen. Zool.). (as subgenus of Gobius). Not available; appeared by mistake as a genus authored by Smitt, but Smitt attributed the name correctly to Winther and spelled the name correctly as Lebetus.
