Taxonomic remark Palaeacmaeidae has long been classified in the Monoplacophora. However, Webers & Yochelson (1999, J. Paleont. 73: 598-607) have showed that the Cambrian type species of Palaeacmaea is not a mollusc, but perhaps a Cnidaria [WoRMS, Mar 2013]. [details]
