Taxonomic remark Some species to Calcitarcha (? algae incertae sedis) according to Versteegh et al., 2009. From AlgaeBase, 2021: Also classified (erroneously) as a foraminifera. While the type species is definitely a charophyte gyrogonite, the other species described by Williamson (which are calcified vesicles of various origins) and subsequent authors can be related to "radiolarians, sponges, acritarchs, possible foraminifers, charophytes and green algae" (Kaneva & al. 2013). [details]
