Taxonomic remark nom. rej. vs. Schistidium Bruch & Schimper 1845 (nom. cons.) (Index Nominum Genericorum). Year given in WoRMS as 1819. Bridel's original taxonomic concept for this genus was confused and the genus was redefined in 1845 by Bruch & Schimper, whose version of the name (with new type) has been accepted as a nom. cons. (refer taxonomic appendices to Tokyo Code and successors), although many authors still incorrectly attribute this genus to Bridel. [details]
