Taxonomic remark From Hyde et al., 2024: The genus was first introduced by Link (1809) for L. griseoflavum (= Fuligo muscorum). Lignydium was re-erected by García-Martín et al. (2023) to accommodate L. muscorum, which is not closely related to any other Fuligo species. According to the most recent phylogeny of Physarales, Lignydium muscorum is most closely related to Kelleromyxa (García-Martín et al. 2023). [details]
