Taxonomic remark Elsewhere in Nomenclator Zoologicus as Crustacea (Malacostraca). From Knaust, 2020: This trace fossil was described from Triassic black shale as ‘very small ... globular balls’, abundantly ‘occurring in a mass forming a circular arrangement with a diameter of about 7 mm in shorter and 15 mm in longer (direction)’ and interpreted as burrow excavation pellets (‘sand balls’) of crabs. Based on the figure in Katto (1963) it is difficult to decide on the shape and composition of P. pecularis and it is likely that it represents an accumulation of faecal pellets of unknown affiliation (e.g. Coprulus isp.). Paleoscopimera describes both an accumulation and its components (i.e. pellets) and remains a nomen dubium. [details]
