Taxonomic remark From McKenna & Bell, 1997: "Probably best regarded as a nomen dubium". Gaetano & Rougier, 2012 state: A form probably related to amphilestids, Liaotherium Zhou et al., 1991, was described on the basis of a dentary bearing a damaged last molariform (said to be of “amphilestid” morphology based on field observations). The fragmentary nature of the specimen makes comparison of Liaotherium with other taxa problematic; however, it has been suggested that it morphologically resembles “symmetrodontans” such as Zhangheotherium Hu et al., 1997 (Kielan-Jaworowska et al., 2004).
