Taxonomic remark Nomen novum for Tetraphyllum W. Griffith ex C.B. Clarke, 1883, non Tetraphyllum Hosius & von der Marck, 1880, published as a fossil plant but today considered an animal trace fossil. There is some doubt about the valid publication of Tetraphyllum Hosius & von der Marck, 1880, however if this is considered validly published, Middleton et al., 2021 propose Tetraphyllum W. Griffith ex C.B. Clarke as a nom. cons., which would render its replacement with the new name Tetraphylloides unnecessary. [details]
