Taxonomic remark Original spelling Polypodii-sporites; when published, an illegitimate, superfluous replacement name for Polypodii-sporonites R. Potonié, 1931 (Potonié published the new name because he changed his system of naming fossil spores and pollen), however in widespread use since that time and recommended for conservation against Polypodii-sporonites in Herendeen, 2016 following a proposal by Doweld, 2014, thereby making Polypodiisporites A.F. Chlonova, 1961 a later homonym. Listed in Zhang et al., 2021 as a synonym of Polypodiidites, however as an accepted name in other recent works. [details]
