Taxonomic remark Ichnogenus (fossil burrows), with one species T. pedum an important stratigraphic marker for the base of the Cambrian period. According to Vannier et al., 2010, possibly made by priapulid (or priapulid-like) worms. According to other sources, some traces attributed to Treptichnus in later epochs could have been made by Coleoptera or by Dipteran larvae. Listed as Col[eoptera] in Nomen. Zool. [details]
