Taxonomic remark Novikoff & Barabasz-Krasny, 2015 refer this genus to Crossozamiaceae in Cycadales, however according to Van Konijnenburg-van Cittert et al., 2017, the name should be retained only for leaves un-attributable to one of the major plant groups; where so attributable, they should be allocated to other genera in (e.g.) ferns, cycads or bennettites, as appropriate. Zijlstra et al., 2016 proposed conserving Taeniopteris with a new type (an alternative to an earlier proposal by Doweld, 2013) to permit its continued use and not be a synonym of Marandoidea Jaeger, 1827, a proposal that was recommended for acceptance by the Nomenclature Committee for Fossils (Herendeen, 2017). [details]
