Taxonomic remark From Philippe & Hayes, 2010: Tiloxylon Hartig has ... two very different syntypes and has never been lectotypified (curiously not even by Andrews, 1955). Whatever the species chosen for lectotypification, it species would induce a lot of nomenclatural instability. We thus lectotypify here Tiloxylon Hartig with T. lindleyana (Witham) nov. comb. (the combination not having been formed by Hartig) with the basionym Peuce lindleyana Witham (Int. Str. Foss. Veget., 70, Pl. 14 fig. 9, Pl. XV figs. 4–5; 1833) With this choice Tiloxylon Hartig becomes an earlier taxonomical synonym of Araucariopitys and/or Protocedroxylon. Tiloxylon has, however, never been used by any author except Hartig himself, and to avoid disadvantageous nomenclatural changes we thus simultaneously suggest to reject the name Tiloxylon Hartig (ICBN art. 56).
