In Bacteria, this genus is conserved over Beggiatoa Trevisan, 1845, refer International Code of Nomenclature of Prokaryotes, although in Index Nominum Genericorum and CyanoDB the reverse is stated. The generic name is retained in botanical nomenclature for purposes of homonymy. [details]
