Taxonomic remark Nom. cons. (Pre APG placement: Loganiaceae). Conserved (nom. cons.) over the earlier homonym Peltanthera Roth, nom. rej. (GRIN). IRMNG taxonomic placement (presently Lamiales incertae sedis) follows APG IV; previously placed in Loganiaceae, also Buddlejaceae, Scrophulariaceae, and Gesneriaceae. Stevens (Angiosperm Phylogeny Website, consulted Dec 2016) places Peltanthera its own family, Peltantheraceae. Refulio-Rodriguez and Olmstead (2014) state: "Peltanthera is supported in a position as sister to a clade composed of Gesneriaceae and Calceolariaceae in our study with strong support in all three analyses. This is in contrast to its placement in Perret et al. (2013, suppl. Figure 1), in which it is placed as sister to Gesneriaceae, but with weak support (the non-Gesneriaceae data for their study were drawn from those of Schäferhoff et al., 2010 ). They considered Peltanthera to be included in Gesneriaceae, but our results cast doubt on that placement." [details]
