Taxonomic remark Described as fossil calcareous algae, however Kabanov et al., 2008 interpret these structures as soil biomineralizations produced in association with either fungi or bacteria. Nevertheless, Mamet & Préat, 2010 include Palaeomicrocodium (Microcodiaceae) as calcareous algae. [details]
