Taxonomic remark From Peel, 1988: Jiang referred Spirellus to the animalian arder Hyolithelminthes Fischer, 1962 and this assignment was also accepted by Azmi (1983). Brasier (1984) considered its affinities to be problematic, as did Bhatt et al. (1985), while Brasier & Singh (1987) tentatively considered Spirellus to be a skeletal alga. ...
