Taxonomic remark (as subgenus of Polyamblyodon). Apparently not available from Smith 1940, two included species in subgenus, neither designated as type (Art. 13.3). Genus apparently can date to treatment in Zoological Record for 1940 where only one species was mentioned with the name; Leptometopon also was spelled two ways.
