Taxonomic remark A largely zoological order (Chromera and Vitrella are photosynthetic) recognised in Ruggiero et al., 2015 (in superphylum Alveolata, phylum Miozoa, class Apicomonadea) and Adl et al., 2019 (as unplaced in Alveolata). By contrast, AlgaeBase (2024 version) treats this as the botanical order Colpodellales within class Colpodellophyceae in phylum Chromeridophyta (the latter equivalent to class Apicomonadea in Rugiero et al.).
