Dzik, 1994, accepts Bursata and places it in his new family Solenocarididae along with Carnicoleus and Solenocaris, however as cited in Pojeta et al., 2010, Sanders (1965) stated: "I believe that Rhoads' three incertae sedis genera, Triangulata, Bursata, and Subcylindrica, represent the anterior plate, intermediate plate, and a weathered intermediate plate of the chiton Septemchiton iowensis", which is presently followed in IRMNG. [details]
