Taxonomic remark There is uncertainty regarding the affinity of this material. Dzik, 1994, accepts Bursata and places it in his new family Solenocarididae along with Carnicoleus and Solenocaris, however as cited in Pojeta et al., 2010, Sanders (1965) stated: "I believe that Rhoads' three incertae sedis genera, Triangulata, Bursata, and Subcylindrica, represent the anterior plate, intermediate plate, and a weathered intermediate plate of the chiton Septemchiton iowensis", which is presently followed in IRMNG.
