Ehrenberg, 1872 created the subgenus Difflugia (Reticella), a junior homonym which Haman, 1988 replaced with Difflugia (Markhamia); presuming this is treate as a subgenus of Difflugia Leclerc, 1815, "Difflugia Ehrenberg, 1872" would be either a later usage (not a new name), or an erroneous author attribution in Nomenclator Zoologicus.
