Taxonomic remark Navidi-Izad et al., 2022, note that Artemopyra resembles Virgatasporites, which they consider an acritarch, stating: ...the two genera Virgatasporites and Artemopyra are morphologically very similar, and it appears possible that Artemopyra is a junior synonym of Virgatasporites. However, currently Artemopyra is clearly considered a cryptospore, whereas Virgatosporites is not, because it is found in sediments that are much older. [details]
