Descriptive info Precambrian-Cambrian boundary; Liantuo, Yichang, W Hubei Province, China. (Index Nominum Genericorum) [details]
Taxonomic remark from Yin et al., 2011: The morphological characters, e.g., cell-like vesicle, simple cell-fission structure inside and fixiform or amorphic colonial aggregation, suggest that Xenosphaera liantuoensis could be a eukaryotic green alga (Yin, 1987). If true, those specimens characterized with slightly larger vesicles and spinose peripheral envelopes found among amorphic colonial aggregations of Xenosphaera liantuoensis, may represent a reproductive stage (resting cyst) of green algae.
