Taxonomic remark from Yin et al., 2011: The morphological characters, e.g., cell-like vesicle,simple cell-fission structure inside and fixiform or amorphic colonial aggregation, suggest that Xenosphaera liantuoensis could be a eukaryotic green alga (Yin, 1987). If true, those specimens characterized with slightly larger vesicles and spinose peripheral envelopes found among amorphic colonial aggregations of Xenosphaera liantuoensis, may represent a reproductive stage (resting cyst) of green algae. [details]
