Taxonomic remark Unavailable name, suppressed for both priority and homonymy, ICZN Opinion 1754, 1994. Kerzhner, 1991 wrote: It is a matter for discussion whether the name Peltis should be attributed to Müller (1776), who was the first author to include in the genus species of the Peltidae as now understood, or to Kugelann (1792), who restricted the use of the name to species of the Peltidae alone (see above). As Peltis has been consistently used with Kugelann's authorship and has never been used with the authorship of Müller, I propose that Kugelann's authorship be accepted. (This proposal was subsequently accepted by the ICZN). [details]
