Taxonomic remark Senior homonym of Paurodontidae Thorne, 1941 (Nemata). Averianov et al., 2013, suggest that this family is paraphyletic ("a paraphyletic array of basal dryolestidans") and should be abandoned, with Paurodon itself included only in "Dryolestida": " There is no clade containing Paurodon excluding Dryolestidae, and therefore, the long-held concept of “Paurodonti[d]ae” Marsh 1887 is not valid." Nevertheless the family is still used e.g. by Martinelli et al., 2021 and others. [details]
